This is a brief introduction to malmal, please read it carefully.

The tools

The tools

These are the main drawing tools. Use the brush to draw and the eraser to erase.

Clicking the brush or the eraser twice brings up the brush selection:

Brush settings

I call these orbs.

Change the brush size by sliding up and down on the upper orb. The middle one selects the color. The bottom one the opacity.

You can bring up more settings by clicking the slider orb:

Color picking

The color orb has a "Eyedropper" button to pick colors from the canvas. Or click I. If on the brush tool you can also press and hold on the canvas to pick colors quickly (You can change the delay in the settings).

Undo / Redo

Press Z to undo and Y to redo. There is a shared amount of undo steps available per tile. When drawing solo you should be able to undo 120 times. When 2 people draw it'll be roughly 60, with 3 people 40, etc. You'll get an error when reaching the end of the undo history.

Karma

Malmal has a reputation system called Karma. You gain karma by posting your artworks to the gallery. Everytime someone likes your post, you gain 1 karma. Some boards have karma limits, meaning you need at least X karma to post there.

You can always start drawing on the "newcomers" board which has no karma limit, or create yor own.

To post to the gallery, use the "Select" tool:

Inspection

If someone is breaking the rules, for example by drawing over your artwork, you can inspect to see who did it and then report them. Long press or right click to bring up the context menu:

Pressure sensitivity is not working for me

It's a known issue on macOS right now, fix will come soon! If you're not on macOS, please let me know via discord / mail / feedback board.
